What Makes this the Best Homemade Salsa Recipe

Besides fresh cherry size tomatoes, the secret to this salsa recipe is the fresh taste of parsley and mint! That’s right, I said parsley and mint and not cilantro! Are you surprised? I actually stumbled upon this delicious twist because I simply did not have any fresh cilantro in my garden. What I discovered though was that the mint in combination with the other fresh ingredients made for the best homemade salsa recipe yet!
Do you Peel the Tomatoes for Salsa
Most salsa recipes do not require you to peel the tomatoes and this recipe is no different. Especially since you are using cherry sized tomatoes, there is no need to peel the tomatoes before blending.
However, if you are using larger sized tomatoes, then I do recommend peeling before you add them to your salsa recipe. On larger tomatoes the peel will roll up and will have the texture of thin rubber. For this reason alone, I prefer to use cherry sized tomatoes for this recipe and I promise you that you will love this choice as well! Not only does it make life much simpler to not have to peel tomatoes, but the vitamins in the skin are so beneficial for you (if homegrown with no pesticides).
How to Make Salsa
Follow these 4 simple steps and you are on your way to making delicious, fresh and need I say, the BEST salsa recipe!
Step 1: Chop Ingredients
Prep your ingredients (chop peppers and fresh herbs). For this recipe you will need 2 banana peppers and 1 jalapeño pepper. Depending on how hot you like your salsa, you can always add more jalapeño peppers, but trust me, 1 definitely heats it up!
Step 2: Blend Tomatoes
Add 30-40 cherry size tomatoes to a blender. Pulse until chopped and slightly pureed. The important key here is to not over pulse. You do not want your tomatoes soupy. Instead you want them slightly crushed and mostly chopped.
Step 3: Combine Ingredients
From the blender, pour your tomato base into a bowl and add the chopped peppers and fresh herbs.
Step 4: Salsa Recipe Final Step
Squeeze the juice of 1 whole lime into the salsa and a pinch of salt. Gently mix all ingredients and then pile it high onto a chip to taste. Savor the burst of fresh flavors in your mouth! You can either devour it all yourself or decide to share the goodness, the choice is up to you!
